[Geo4All] PhD Supervisor training/mentorship program in Data Ethics

In March 2023, The Ethical Data Initiative<https://ethicaldatainitiative.org/> and the African Institute of Capacity Development (AICAD)<https://www.aicad.or.ke/>, hosted a panel discussion exploring the Importance of Data Ethics in Research and Education. Details at

One of the key questions raised in the panel discussions was on how can we build capacity for Data Ethics in universities and industry?


The Ethical Data Initiative has been working with various UK universities to include Data Ethics training as a key part of Doctoral Training Programs.


Following this webinar on the Importance of Data Ethics in Research and Education, AICAD announced plans for training academics in Data Ethics across AICAD network of universities. The Ethical Data Initiative is pleased to work with AICAD on this and contribute to the PhD Supervisor Training Program organised for academic staff of AICAD network of universities. Over 50 Academic staff from over 20 universities will be taking part in this 2 week program (2nd-15th May 2023) which will also include Data Ethics Training. I am grateful to AICAD for providing full funding/scholarships for all participants for the Graduate Supervisory Training Course. Details at https://www.aicad.or.ke


I think it is important to have Faculty training/mentorship programs in Data Ethics for all universities globally. All ideas welcome.
