Dear colleagues,
The Ethical Data Initiative in partnership with the African Institute for Capacity Development (AICAD) will provide Data Ethics training to faculty and PhD supervisors across Southeast Africa for the second year running as part of a graduate studies supervisor course. This online course aims to equip postgraduate research supervisors with the necessary knowledge and skills to enhance their supervision practices and better support individual students. The programme, which is free of charge, will be held from 9-13 September, 2024, and is open to applications from participants across South-East Africa.
The graduate studies supervisor course not only aims to teach the fundamentals of Masters and PhD research supervision but also to provide attendees with up-to-date information to tackle the challenges of supervising data science postgraduate courses in the modern age. The course covers the basics of data ethics in research and emphasizes the need for researchers to demonstrate awareness of, and commitment to, responsible research and innovation (RRI) principles. Details at https://ethicaldatainitiative.org/2024/06/24/data-ethics-and-responsible-research-faculty-training-in-south-east-africa/
The program is free for all participants. Application deadline is 16th August 2024. For more information on how to apply for the course is at https://www.aicad.or.ke/effective-graduate-students-supervisor-training-course/
Best wishes
