Call for papers - Mostar
===================
Hi Marco,
I have a suggestion in favor of all, that means also in favor of those who actually don’t like to read maps because of missing reference grids.
I’d like to propose a talk about smart orientation tools basing on example Mostar https://volksnav.de/Mostar and possibly Liberland https://volksnav.de/Liberland but I’m almost sure the academic track will ignore it: imaginary clocks are used by soldiers, boy scouts, pilots, the blind etc. for more than 100 years but are too little academic.
This talk would also help to reduce the confusion about
- open source,
- open data,
- open knowledge,
- open mind,
- difference between location codes and addresses:
PlusCode, address4all etc. are mere converted coordinates which ignore the streets
- difference between imaginable and enigmatic location codes https://volksnav.de/alternatives,
- and the merit principle on intellectual properties.
The goals of the talk and the suggestion is to come case-by-case to the following open information:
- open grid data, in this case Mostar
- open imaginable location data: Mostar codes for bridges, bus stop points, points-of-interest etc.
- open logo: the innovation could be used for FOSS4G 2025
and
- open knowledge: how to be less dependent using the nAI, the non-Artificial Intelligence
My suggestion: the creation of a FOSS4all non-academic track.
Would this be possible?
Henrique

Betreff: [Geo4All] FOSS4G Europe 2025 Academic Track - Call for Papers
Dear colleagues,
On behalf of the Local Organising Committee and the Scientific Committee of FOSS4G Europe 2025, happening in Mostar on 14-20 July 2025, I am happy to announce that the Call for Papers for the Academic Track is now open!
Following an established tradition, the Academic Track is co-organised by the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS). The call for papers, including instructions for submission, is available at https://2025.europe.foss4g.org/call-for-proposals/academic-program <https://2025.europe.foss4g.org/call-for-proposals/academic-program/> . We invite original research contributions addressing any topic or domain connected to free and open source geospatial software. Deadline for submissions is 3 March 2025.
The process is composed of multiple steps:
1) First, authors submit an abstract of 800-1000 words by 3 March 2025.
2) The Scientific Committee reviews the abstract, which can be accepted as a regular oral presentation or as a poster/lighting talk.
3) If the abstract is accepted, authors have to submit a full paper before 17 May 2025.
The papers will be published in the ISPRS Archives (https://www.isprs.org/publications/archives.aspx), which are listed in the ISI Conference Proceedings Citation Index (CPCI) of the Web of Science, SCOPUS, the E/I Compendex, and the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ).
We are looking forward to receiving your submission!
Best regards,
Marco - on behalf of the Scientific Committee
