available to all educators to share and share alike under the<br>

There is no reason why we shouldn't challenge all students, given their<br>
interest, to make a contribution to society via FOSS4G. The modular<br>
componentry architecture for World Wind code is essentially the same across<br>
all versions, Java, Android and iOS. The new web version in JavaScript will<br>
be no different. And all World Wind code contains plenty of examples. So it<br>
is an excellent platform to teach with.<br>
<br>
For teaching World Wind Java, this should be of help,<br>
<a href="http://eurochallenge.como.polimi.it/guidance">http://eurochallenge.como.polimi.it/guidance</a>. The current JavaScript<br>
examples, though meager in terms of the final code, are each also a good<br>
teaching exercise.<br>
<br>
That said, though this first webinar will be fairly qualitative and<br>
therefore mostly non-technical, any successive webinar, though fundamental,<br>
will be purely technical. So, depending on the interest and skill of the<br>
student, could certainly help to advance their skill, and provide a template<br>
for good software architecture.<br>
<br>
Tomorrow's world needs our children to be as well-equipped as possible.<br>
Whatever we can do to accelerate that is dearly needed. Our teachers have<br>
the most important job in the world! Good luck!!!<br>

Great Luis! I hope to attend a discussion if I can fit it in. One general<br>
point of encouragement:<br>
<br>
*The GeoForAll community should not lose the sight of our long-standing goal<br>
of developing a library of educational modules that we can all potentially<br>
use in our classes*. So in the OGC standards case, I urge you Luis, or<br>
whoever else might develop content, to develop it under a Creative Commons<br>
license and either as video (e.g., recorded webinar), text content (that<br>
would allow for future new derivatives or translations), or even audio<br>
recordings if need-be that we educators can use as modules in various<br>
courses.<br>
<br>
This brings us back to the long-standing issue of a GeoForAll\OSGeo<br>
educational *content repository*. We still have the older metadata<br>
inventory system operational [1], and I've got a ticket request in to the<br>
OSGeo website team get the input form [2] up and running again. And the<br>
GeoAcademy has created a GitHub repository for storing content [3]. With<br>
their permission, we should work on a simple tutorial that outlines to<br>
content authors how to submit the course module metadata in [2], and then<br>
upload the course content under [3], and develop some kind of "badge"<br>
system or regular "GeoForAll educational journal" with links to this content<br>
for acknowledging and incentivizing author contributions.<br>
<br>
Finally, Maria Brovelli and I are talking this week, planning for a<br>
GeoForAll meeting at FOSS4G, where we can take up this and other topics.<br>
