From tchaddad at gmail.com Thu Jan 8 19:37:13 2026 From: tchaddad at gmail.com (TC Haddad) Date: Thu, 8 Jan 2026 19:37:13 -0800 Subject: [geomoose-psc] January PSC items Message-ID: Happy New Year GeoMoosers, Hope you all had a good holiday break! I have 2 somewhat important and short-turnaround items for everyone: - *January Meeting change: *would it be ok to bump our normal PSC meeting out by one week from Jan 16th to January 23rd? This January has 5 Fridays, so we would be moving from the 3rd to the 4th friday. This would avoid the friday before a long weekend, which might be useful. - *Budget Revision:* it was pointed out on the Mapserver list (and by @EliL that the OSGeo budget requests should be scaled down to $2000 in keeping with a board request, and so if there are no objections, I suggest we make that change now (our original request was posted last month and can be altered up to January 15th). If you prefer that this item be bumped into a separate thread with a vote, please respond with that preference. If you see this email before the weekend it would be great to get your replies in time to make the first change asap. The second change needs to be made by Tuesday/Wednesday at the latest to be on the safe side / account for time zones. best, Tanya -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I'm of the opinion that you (or any PSC member) can conform the budget request to OSGeo requirements (within the realm of our previous decision). I'm also confident that the OSGeo Board can truncate our request to 2,000 without any action by us (we can react afterwards in how we plan to allocate that reduced budget). 6/11 of the project requests so far are above the guideline so we're in good(?) company, https://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/OSGeo_Budget_2026#OSGeo_Projects. I think the total requested so far also exceeds what will probably be allocated to projects. If you want to change it, I support that. There is also a note and question opening the possibility of $1,500 code sprint funding, "Board Note: Code Sprint planning should be asked separately following the Event Financial Guidelines (1,500 for a Code Sprint is mentioned here, is this travel cost to a code sprint?) " This link may be the referenced Event Financial Guidelines document but I'm not sure, https://github.com/OSGeo/osgeo/blob/master/board/documents/osgeo_financial_guidance.pdf. So it looks like we're on track for a $2,000 budget and maybe the possibility to request $1,500 for Code Sprint support at a later date.
