1) yah this is a probably and is the reason why I am not using them in
any of my apps.  The City of St. Paul has committed some funding to do
something with the popups but we are still discuss how they will work.
If anyone else has some funding they would like to contribute to the
popup functionality that would be great.  Dan and I were talking about
trying to use the OpenLayers popup functionality.  It is pretty nice in
my opinion.  
 
2) You can use a regex (regular expression) in the itemquery mapfile.
This will do a contains search that is not case senitive.  FILTER
/.*%id%.*/i
 
3) This is possible, but we have no plans to implement this unless
someone comes up with funding to do it.
 
4) we tried to make the select.php work across the board for all the
demos, so you should not have to duplicate it.

I am writing this message to address 3 items:

1) Controlling how popups work

Controlling how popups work:

 

I noticed that the popup control does not allow users to control the
zoom box within a popup enabled parcel.  For example I have popups on
for the state parks If I start my zoom box outside of a state park then
draw the zoom box into the park the box does not get updated until I
have drawn the zoom box outside of the park

 

I don't know if this would be considered a bug, or if there is some sort
of workaround to disable the popups from showing up while the zoom box
is enabled.

Remove case sensitivity in queries

 

Does anyone know how to remove case sensitivity in queries?

If not how can I modify the input of the queries to uppercase - I could
change my attributes to uppercase in the shapefile as well and not have
to worry about case sensitivity

Just a thought

I noticed that Ka-Map, which is also built to work with MS4W has a
"print to geotiff" option.  I don't know what others would think about
it but it might be something worth pursuing.

Last,

 

It might be worth while to rename some files for the example so that it
is easier for new users to figure out which files are part of the
geomoose code, and what files are map specific.  Particularly the files
in webdocs/php could be changed.  For example, Select.php might be
renamed to select_Statedemo.php.
