Did you change the PROJECTION definition in the mapserver .map files to use the same projection as specified in your xxx_configuration.js?
Actually the important thing is the coordinates in the various extent settings (INITIAL_VIEW and Jump-To in the xxx_configuration.js ) must make sense for the PROJECTION object in the Mapserver map file(s) your are using. The projection you specify via MAP_COORDINATE_SYSTEM in the xxx_configuration.js is only for lat/lon portion of the real-time coordinate readout shown in the status area for the mouse movements over the map.
