you are right [scaledenom] is not relevant for query processing, but if you
insert it in itemquery template file it works and you have substitution. 
It remains a string a string - "[scaledenom]" - if you insert it in
header.html (of itemquery).
Probably function called processTemplate overrides only header.html and not
itemquery template file.
