I know this is a dumb question, but do you have "Queryable" set to "true" for that point layer?

That makes sense! Since the tolerance was zero. but setting it to even 100 doesn't work :( that was definately a piece of the puzzle...

Result: PSOD gone. Identify still doesn't work for the point feature, but at least now I have one problem instead of two.

http://lists.osgeo.org/pipermail/geomoose-users/2012-September/004342.html suggests increasing the TOLERANCE

HTH, Eli

                        METADATA
                        # drill-down identify service record.
                                    'identify_record'          'templates/identify.html'

                        END
                        TOLERANCE 0
             END

And all identify.html is is this (all I want is an ID returned):

<!-- MapServer Template -->
<tr bgcolor="#DEE5EB"><td colspan="2"><b><u>Gate Valves</u></b></tr>
<tr>
<td align="right"><b>ID: </b></td>
<td>[ID]</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td> </td>
<td> </td>
</tr>
