Can you use firebug or developer tools to see if MapServer is
returning text or XML? I wonder if there's something funny with the
request.  Otherwise, I wonder if you can create a layer that only
shows when all the other layers are disabled and have that layer
present a legend chip that says, "Zoom in to see more detail."

Does hitting the "clear all" button remove the placemarks?  That would
also remove any highlighting but it may be a start to working on a
solution.

If so, we can probably add a line to call an appropriate "clear"
function in the <script> section of your <results> XML.

Yes, it is returning XML.  
The GetLegendGraphic request only appears in FireBug when zoomed in to scales those layers are visible in.

I think your suggestion for the "Zoom in to see more detail" message might be the way to go on this.

Hitting the clear all button does NOT remove the placemarks.  Only refreshing the browser will.

attribute operate on the group level instead of the whole catalog level.
For instance, to have a single root group that nests two other groups,
which each have only one layer selectable. I tried using multiple="true"
for the root and multiple="false" for the nested groups but this does not
seem to work.

IIRC there was bug like this at one point.  What version are you running?

The example below works for me as expected in 2.6.1.  Each nested group
can select one layer for two layers on total. The multiple="true" in the
"Test" group isn't necessary as it is the default (and there are no
layers directly in the test group to matter anyway).

Strange, I use 2.6.1 as well. Just re-downloaded it and checked the
behavior of the demo app with a slightly altered mapbook. Still the same,

Can this be done?

I found that puuting show-tools="false" in the service tab had no effect.  Putting it in the <step> tag hid the tools, but then the Identify tool doesn't work- your previously-selected tool is still active.  Is there another setting that also needs to be changed?

I currently have a working geomoose map service using the default mapbook.
 I need to display other maps with different layers than what is displayed

In order for this to work I created the mapbooks folder under the htdocs

The normal geomoose mapbook request for the layer starts with the first
link below.

http://<ipaddress>/cgi-bin/mapserv.exe?

The one I am getting when I try to use the other mapbook is below.

http://<ipaddress>/geomoose2/FORMAT=image

What steps am I missing in order to reference more than one mapbook in my
geomoose template?  I have looked under the archives and on the geomoose

My guess is you probably need to set the mapserver_url parameter in your
mapbook.  Normally this is done by getmapbook.php which is bypassed when
you use mapbook=.

Also be warned, while the HTML/JS code is perfectly fine with alternate
mapbooks, the PHP services may still assume that getmapbook.php returns the

I added the mapserver_url param to the configuration section of my other
mapbook.

When I try to identify a line or a point I get coordinates on the left side
of the template.  Is there a way to troubleshoot the identify tool?  I know
I might not have the tolerance set right but how can I figure out what the
tolerance should be.  I have tolerance numbers I have used range from 0 -
100.  I have tried meters, feet, pixels.  I referenced the how to setup
identify on the geomoose.org site and I got one of my polygon layers to
