Hi Lara,

It could be that your ECW was created with a newer SDK version (the one 
that has a different license).  You can test older ECW files downloaded 
from http://download.osgeo.org/gdal/data/ecw/

I had tried to explain that scenario at the top of 
https://ms4w.com/README_INSTALL.html#ecw
