Hey GeoNode crew,
It was wonderful to spend the week with many of you in New Orleans last
week. I want to take a moment to summarize where we are at with the OSGeo
Incubation Status.
Last week we began to fill out our incubation wiki page on OSGeo's wiki
that will act as the final GeoNode Incubation documentation.
The principle link for this documentation is at
https://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/Incubation_Committee#GeoNode
Anyone can sign up to get an account to allow them to edit these documents.
If for some reason you have trouble signing up or logging in, let me know
and I can either help you get in or help get the documents updated.
I have added tickets for most of the items that need attention on the
GeoNode/GeoNode issue tracker, but all of these pages should receive broad
review from the GeoNode community. Please update those tickets with
comments/questions/status of the items. (if someone could add the
osgeo-incubation label to these items, that would be awesome).
- Add release documentation.
https://github.com/GeoNode/geonode/issues/2364
- Adopt Contributor License Agreement and add process to Dev
Documentation. https://github.com/GeoNode/geonode/issues/2363
- Review the List of Included Libraries.
https://github.com/GeoNode/geonode/issues/2362
- Review list of contributors.
https://github.com/GeoNode/geonode/issues/2361
- Brief project history. https://github.com/GeoNode/geonode/issues/2360
- Add copyright headers to all code.
https://github.com/GeoNode/geonode/issues/2348
- Request OSGeo to assert copyright for OpenPlans code.
https://github.com/GeoNode/geonode/issues/2366
I have been very impressed by the breadth and engagement of the GeoNode
community and the high quality of documentation to allow others to get up
to speed in developing with GeoNode. The biggest hurdle faced to wrap up
incubation is certainly going to be shoring up the intellectual property
issues with proper copyright headers and processes (such as CLA's) to
assure that all IP is unambiguous.
As always, please let me know if you have any questions. I will be
following the above tickets and any others that get created with the
osgeo-incubation label).
Your OSGeo mentor,
David
