Hi,
The reason why we decided to do 2 and 3 is to show the users entire
lists of resources, to make them know they exist. So we recommend to our
contributors not to upload draft layers or to use "featured" or "is
published" metadata, but I am not sure they work properly or maybe we
didn't understand them...
For the 6. yes, it's about the search in the left search column
