I, too, would like to push a 3.0 release soon. Let us see what issues really need to get solved and don´t get distracted by minors. Than start to test a RC and get it working smoothly. I am of the opinion that we should try to push for an official release for Python 3 / Django 2 compatibility as soon as possible, since the previous versions are out of support.
