Hi Charles,
I've noticed this problem a time ago, and posted a possible solution to the
code in GeoExplorer, but had no feedback from the list.

Subject: GeoExplorer preventing saving GeoRSS feeds in a Map
Hi all.
Does anyone knows if there's some special use case for not saving Feed
Sources (GeoRSS) added in a map in GeoExplorer?
It's explicitly prevented by this line
https://github.com/boundlessgeo/gxp/blob/0faa5c1aae2ba50eff7ba31e07749aeacaab3776/src/script/widgets/Viewer.js#L727
when excluding Vector Layers from the returned state
After just leaving the displayInLayerSwitcher check I was able to save it
on the Map.
How harmful can it be letting Vector Layers be included in the return state?
Thanks,
Luiz Vital
