And it seems on other OS'es too :

Of interest in that thread : "PHP5 can work with MPM Worker too. But you 
have to use CGI or FastCGI instead of Apache module".

So I deduce that using PHP as an Apache module *requires* not using the 
worker MPM.  And that seems to apply to all OS'es.
