[geos-devel] geos & gcc

Dear developers,

being one of the very brave, I just tried to compile geos/postgis/postgresql. 
I have followed the mailing list, I know about linking postgres with lstdc++ 
etc. etc.
However, on one system (mandrake 9.0) geos compiles, on my other system 
(debian woody) is doesn't. Actually I want to use it on my debian system...
Does geos need gcc >= 3.2 ?
Or any other dependencies for it to compile properly?
