Those are the "resource fork" of Mac files.  If they're in SVN they  
probably won't go away with a repack on Linux.  If they are simply  
tarballed on OSX, it's happening on the fly by the archive tools and  
should not appear if repacked on Linux.  I don't think an svn commit  
with pass these into the repository.

What happens on OSX with resource forks when saved to a non-HFS file  
system is that _OSX_ splits the resource fork into a file of the same  
name prefixed with '._'.

This can also happen when extended attributes are attached to files on  
OSX, like ACLs and type/creator tags.

Looking at these files, I don't see any resource forks or type/creator  
info.  There are extended attributes, shown as @ in the perms from 'ls  
-l' (though I don't know the command to view the attributes).
