Comment:

 This case exposes a memory issue with GEOS. It consumes more than 7Gb of
 memory and thus never completes. This was tested with current development
 version in the 3.3 branch as of r3539.

 Should be slightly better in trunk (r3540) but still memory hungry.

 I'd say this is a duplicate of issue #383
