It does, nothing wrong with that.
The last change in 3.3.9 was actually committed on August 21
(few days before 3.4.2 was released) but 3.3.9 release was only
published later.
The only real bug is the release date in the NEWS for in 3.3.9 tag,
which I just fixed with r3969
3.4.2 contains all the fixes that went into 3.3.9
