multiple users

I'm pretty new to GRASS and may be missing something, 
but the discussion about running a class of 12 still has me 
confused.  Running 3 at a time just requires people to use
different monitors.  But how can you run 8 or more sessions,
i.e., have more monitors than the usual x0 through x6
running?  Multiple installations?  New monitor FIFO pairs???
Anything easier??????
(Our central computing people have installed GRASS on a SPARC 
2000 which ought to run lots of users pretty nicely.)
