Error in compilation of GRASS4.1 update 3

Howdy netters,

I have begun compiling GRASS4.1 update 3, which I downloaded 
two days ago, and have run into a problem that baffles me.  When 
the compilation script gets to compiling the program d.3d, it bombs 
with the error message:

ld: Undefined symbol 
   __lib_version

make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `/usr/local/grass4.1/etc/bin/main/inter/d.3d'
GISGEN failure at STEP: src/display/d.3d

I am running SUNOS 4.1.3 on a SPARCstation 10 with Openwindows 3.0.
I have very little experience at tracking down errors that the linker
spits out.  Has anyone run into this problem?  How was it resolved?
