about xdigit

Hi, netters:
  I have compiled the xdigit. Everything looks good. But I wonder should it be 
invoked under xgrass or grass shell? I have tried to invoked it under grass
shell, however, I encountered a problem that some Motif widget can not be
created. And then the xdigit quit. The error message shows as follow:  

X Error of failed request:  BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)
  Major opcode of failed request:  53 (X_CreatePixmap)
  Value in failed request:  0x0                                                   Serial number of failed request:  413
  Current serial number in output stream:  415


After inspecting the source code, I found that may happen in the subroutine
"make_colors_menu(parent)". Is there anyone could told me what's wrong with
it? and how to fix it?
