Stability of Solaris Release

Hello all!

I am curious if there are any other people out there having problems with
the Solaris release of GRASS? I've tried the binary version, as well as two
separate compilations of the source under Solaris 2.3 (with 30+ patches) and
Motif 1.2.4 on a SPARC 20 (thanks to Darrell McCauley of Purdue for help here).

Not only is the XDRIVER graphics device not refreshing itself, but the
application I am developing (Motif menus on top of GRASS functionality)
runs REALLY SLOW on the SPARC 20 (as compared to other machines we've run on,
like SPARC 10, SPARC1+, etc.). The slowness involves defining frames (d.frame),
writing text (d.text), drawing raster files (d.rast), etc.

I've talked with the folks at Sun to see if they have had any complaints about
applications (clients) not refreshing themselves when "told" to by the X server,
and they were not able to provide any help. Other clients (filemgr, emacs, etc)
behave properly under our configuration, its just the GRASS graphics devices
that are not quite right.

If anyone can tell me whether the GRASS release under Solaris is stable or not,
please let me know ASAP. If I don't get this problem resolved by the end of
the week, I'll be forced to install SunOS on our SPARC 20 (which is NOT what
our client wants!).

thanks in advance!!
