Projecting at run time.

Hi GRASS programmers!

Has anyone developed a program, or of one, that will reproject 
GRASS data sets at run time?
e.g. Display a lat/long database as UTM.

Ive been hacking around with the d.vect code for the last few weeks but cant
seen to get it right. Any help would be much appreciated.
