  I don't know off-hand what's required to make the code run as threads on
multiple processors. However, one of the premier compiler developers for
high-performance C and FORTRAN is located here in Portland: The Portland
Group. Since I know their sales manager -- and I know that their products
are used very heavily here in the Silicon Forest, I'll inquire.

  I'm thinking of a beowulf cluster for running big GRASS models, so this is
of interest to me, too.
