Hi John,

if you allow, I reply to the devel-list.

To be honest: I am not too familiar with OpenGIS concepts
but I think this should become an issue for the forthcoming 
GRASS 5 development (5.1) version. Especially the vector stuff
and the metadata management are important.

Since yesterday evening (German time) most parts of the internet
are unreachable (entire U.S. is gone and part of Europe). So
I cannot check the www.opengis.org site.

I think Frank Warmerdam is involved in OpenGIS, he might have
recommendations.
