Hi Jeshua,

you are currently not using "cvs update" but "cvs checkout".

You will
 - either "cvs up -dP" the current cvs tree
 - or "cvs -z3 co -r "release_grass5beta11_4_february_2001" grass" a new
   grass sources tree into an *empty* directory.

A mixture will cause above problems.

Currently
cvs up -dP todo
cvs up -dP 
in your existing tree will do the job as so far no new
changes are uploaded.
