[GRASS5] Deprecate d.area and d.vect.line ??

I would like to deprecate d.area (and possibly d.vect.cats ?) in favor of
d.vect.area.  Also, there's the matter of v.area. Do people use it? 
What does it provide that d.what.vect doesn't do (besides the flood
fill, which doesn't handle islands)?

I'm considering writing a vector line module similar to d.vect.area, only
it'd be for drawing labelled lines in different colors via a similar
legend file (yea? nay? don't care?).
