Eric,
It look's like the list didn't get cc'd on the last round of letters. I've
cc'd them here.
I've been re-reading the copyright information. The website says that the
copyright is held by "the GRASS development team." The COPYING file in the
current distribution says "the GRASS development team headquartered at Baylor
University." As near as I can tell, neither actually says that Baylor
University has legal control of the copyright.
Dr. Byars' letters to this list gave me the impression that Baylor does in
fact own the copyright to GRASS. I believe each contributor probably owns
the copyright to the work they did personally but there would be limitations
to the scope of that copyright. Now I'm over my head.

And I guess it really isn't an issue unless Dr. Byars wants to make it one.
It would at least be polite to acknowledge Baylor University.
