[GRASS5] Importing .shp files

Greetings All

Please forgive such an utterly newbie question, but I really have tried
to figure this out from the documentation...


I am trying to import a .shp file with a geopolitical boundary (a US
census tract), and it fails because grass doesn't know about a
projection. I can't seem to find the menu item/command to tell it what I
want. Would someone give me a few pointers?
