OK, after a clean it also doesn't compile here any more.

Probably yes: But -lgrass_gis may be better to avoid conflicts with -ledit
etc. (so -lgrass_edit).

I have found that
#include "gis.h"

was missing in
./lib/vector/Vlib/field.c
(submitted to CVS). Does this help?
