[GRASS5] Re: [bug #2451] DXF support

I read through the discussion on DXF and DWG support. It is indeed a  
complicated issue. But perhaps there are 2 different aspects to this.

One is support for AutoCAD users. This requires either current DXF or  
DWG support to be most effective. These are complicated by the license  
issues for opendwg and other things discussed in the threads below. Not  
insurmountable, but complicated.

The other is the fact that DXF in some form has become a widely used  
interchange format for a variety of other GIS and CAD programs. Would  
it be easier to support this kind of DXF--for now at least? Would this  
be a lower-level (i.e., older) dxf standard than the current AutoCAD  
one? Just a thought.
