[GRASS5] db.copy -- value too long ERROR

I'm using db.copy to copy several tables from dbf files to PostgreSQL. Most of the tables copied just fine -- but several errored out with messages like the following:

ERROR: value too long for type character varying(23)

This is GRASS61 (last Sunday's CVS snapshot) running on Fedora Core 3, with PostgreSQL 7.4.8.

Seems like db.copy ought to be able to figure out how to properly create the pg table using the attributes of the dbf file. Should I file a bug report on this? Can anyone suggest a workaround?

Thanks in advance,
Allan
