[GRASS5] [bug #2976] (grass) db.select in GRASS 6.0.0beta1

Subject: db.select in GRASS 6.0.0beta1

the options of the SQL select statement are limitated? I would like to 
select of one field of a table and to add these valors with "SUM" but it 
doesn't works, I write: 
 
db.select -c sql="select sum(AREA) from parcela" 
 
and I obtain an error in  SQL parser statement... 
 
Somebody can help me?
