[GRASS-dev] d.grid is disabled in latest cvs

I'm unable to get to get the gis.m 'Overlay grids and lines' button to
render either a utm or geographic grid. This was working in gis.m sometime
last week. 

I've set the grid spacing to a wide range of values that ought to fit within
my current region. Launching d.grid from the command line fails to draw the
grid as well, but with the added error message:

No socket to connect to for monitor <x0>.

GRASS_INFO_ERROR(13002,1): No graphics device selected~ >No socket to
connect to for monitor <x0>.

Hmm...checking d.mon -L shows that gism is currently running. It seems that
d.grid fails to catch my current graphics device.

Any ideas?
