I took that from an existing GRASS module, it was not my
invention :-)
At least it is now identical everywhere (lib/gis/ I left untouched).
If you have a suggestion to get it right, I can make a
new round to fix it.

I understood that Brad is working on that. Maybe, integrated with
v.edit, this can be solved.
