Subject: Error in startup script: child process exited abnormally

Platform: WindowsNT/2000/XP
grass obtained from: Mirror of Trento site
grass binary for platform: Downloaded precompiled Binaries
GRASS Version: 6.0.0(2005)

To WHom this may concern,
   I just downloaded grass60 and i am trying to get up and running.  When trying to open a test dataset, i am recieving an error.  Error in startup script: child process exited abnormally .
