Subject: v.patch: 'Cannot open old vector ... on level 2'

grass obtained from: CVS
grass binary for platform: Compiled from Sources
GRASS Version: 2006-05-23

1 of the 2 vectors I wanted to v.patch was open in v.digit.

v.patch issued an error:

"Cannot open old vector cieki05_2zl at melio2 on level 2"

Why is it saying "old vector"? It should be just "vector".

Is it a symptom of some error in v.patch code?
