[GRASS5] Improvements to gis.m map canvas

Because it is likely that drawing a box by hand with a mouse will not
exactly come up with the exact same x:y ratio of the current canvas. And in
fact this may be desired. Someone may want to switch from a display that is
wider than high to one that is higher than wide. Changing the canvas
geometry and region geometry are separate processes, of course. Then we have
to fit the displayed region to the canvas in such as way as to maximize
displayed information.
