Error description:

Typing "grass61" at the unix shell prompt opens the grass Startup window. Clicking on "Enter GRASS" yields

The GUI fails to open. This same error can be reproduced by typing "gis.m" at the GRASS prompt. Typing "d.m" at the GRASS prompt does successfully open the GIS Manager.
