Now, regarding this very bug report, I confirm it exists in 6.2 CVS.
Such locks when editing attributes in v.digit happen. Fixed in 6.3.

This also reminds me of an issue with corrupted "d.what.vect -e" tcl/tk
windows [1] - fixed in 6.3, but still present in 6.2.
