The FAQ says yes:
http://www.vtk.org/Wiki/VTK_FAQ#Can_VTK_be_used_as_part_of_a_project_distributed_under_a_GPL_License_.3F
But I have my doubts. In particular, the licence appears to be closer
to the original BSD licence than the modified version, due to this
clause:
* Redistributions in binary form must reproduce the above
copyright notice, this list of conditions and the following
disclaimer in the documentation and/or other materials
provided with the distribution.
