Initial Comment:
It took me a while till I really understand how to use the MODIS Data Quality Band (Quality flags, in my case for MOD09 products). Finally... I got it after (re-)reading the description (in a post) of Glynn Clemments... (using actually r.mapcalc).

In my honest opinion, I think that the example(s) for r.bitpattern are not clear enough for beginners like me.

I am creating a table (maybe to be help to understand better how it works to get the correct values for "position (pattern)" and "pattern value").

Should I send it as a doc "issue"?
