Xcode 3.x in Leopard comes with swig 1.3.31.

Did you compile your swig or install binaries?  Maybe you should  
uninstall it and use the Xcode copy.

Darwin 8 is Tiger, but I don't think the system version it was  
compiled on should make a difference, but it might for something like  
this.
