 mmmph. that's what I was trying to address with the if(y>90)y=90; stuff.
 Instead of that maybe it could just invoke pan mode or return with the
 same bounds as it started with?

 sure. I'm using the etopo2 dataset for testing. (see grass wiki global
 datasets page)


 fyi- if you are the reporter or have commented to the bug report you are
 automatically added to the cc list. Also if adding to the cc list it is
 better to use the osgeo ID than full email addr, as exposing that just
 adds to the spam load..
