 Currently, r.external "imports" only the first channel, not all
 available channels as r.in.gdal does:

 r.in.gdal complete. Raster map <dd.red> created.

 r.in.gdal complete. Raster map <dd.green> created.

 The behaviour of r.in.gdal is more user-friendly, could r.external be
 improved?
