 This error was definitely introduced by the rewrite I did over the summer
 of 2008. At the time I tested it on Ubuntu 8.04(32-bit) and I didn't
 notice any incorrect output. However, I didn't do any testing on MacOS X
 platform. I will have a look at this and report if I manage to fix it.
