 the mingw-w64-toolchain is stable enough, see under
 http://mingw-w64.sourceforge.net/
 successfully built software with this toolchain. for example R
 (www.r-project.org) delivers win64-bit-binaries built upon mingw-w64.

 but be aware about all the dependencies for building grass (gdal, proj4,
 geos, etc.) with mingw-w64, I don't know if they are all available as
 win64-bit-binaries or if it's necessary to build some of them for yourself
 or etc. ... but if someone could try this, would be great.
