I cannot reproduce it with 6.4.2, when changing format selected
directory is not changed or cleared. Anyway I found another bug, when
changing format list of layers should be reloaded respectively. It
should be fixed in devbr6 (r48007). Please test it, then it could be
backported to relbr64. I have created ticket for this issue [1].
